About our photo labels

Custom photo labels turn your own photographs into personalised adhesive labels for gifts, packaging, events, promotions and keepsakes. Upload a single image, a prepared collage or complete artwork and choose the shape and dimensions that best suit the photograph and its intended use.

Popular uses for photo labels

  • Personalised gifts and keepsake boxes
  • Wedding and celebration favours
  • Photo seals for cards and envelopes
  • Family events and party packaging
  • Pet photographs and memorial labels
  • Product packaging and promotional packs
  • Photography samples and client packaging
  • School, club and community projects

Choose the right shape for your photograph

Rectangular and square labels are ideal for photographs using the original camera proportions. Circular and oval labels create a more decorative finish but require parts of the original image to be cropped. Keep important faces and details away from the edge of the design.

Custom dimensions are available when you need the label to fit a particular box, envelope, container or presentation item.

Gloss, matt or clear vinyl

Gloss white vinyl produces a bright finish with strong colour and contrast, making it a popular choice for detailed photographs. Matt white vinyl has a softer appearance with less reflection. Clear vinyl allows the surface beneath the unprinted areas to remain visible, although colours may appear different when applied to coloured or transparent objects.

Preparing photographs for printing

Use the original high-resolution photograph whenever possible rather than an image downloaded from social media or copied from a screenshot. Images should ideally be supplied at approximately 300 dpi at the required printing size.

If the photograph extends to the edge of the label, include 2–3 mm of additional image as bleed. Keep faces, wording and other important details approximately 1–2 mm inside the cutting line.

Image cropping and colour

Your photograph may need to be cropped to match the selected label shape. Check that important subjects remain within the safe area, particularly when ordering circular, oval or unusually shaped labels.

Photographs are displayed on illuminated RGB screens but printed using CMYK inks, so some colours may appear slightly different in print. A PDF proof checks the layout and cropping but cannot reproduce exact printed colour on a screen. Printed proofs can be arranged when colour matching is especially important.

Durable vinyl labels on sheets

Photo labels are printed on vinyl and supplied on easy-peel sheets. They are suitable for clean, smooth surfaces and offer good resistance to moisture and everyday handling. They are not intended as permanent archival photographic prints or for prolonged immersion, dishwashers or high-temperature applications unless the material has been tested first.

Use photographs you have permission to reproduce

Only upload photographs, artwork and images that you own or have permission to reproduce. If a professional photographer created the image, check the agreed usage rights before ordering printed copies.

Proofing and production

A PDF proof is available if requested, and we only print after you have approved it. Printed proofs and material samples can also be arranged if you need to check image quality, colour, finish or label size before ordering a larger quantity.

Orders are normally produced within 1–2 working days, with tracked and urgent delivery options available at checkout.

Photo label FAQs

Can any photograph be turned into a label?
Most photographs can be used provided the image is clear, sufficiently high resolution and you have permission to reproduce it.
What image quality should I supply?
Use the original image file where possible. Approximately 300 dpi at the required print size is recommended for the best result.
Can every label contain a different photograph?
Variable photographs may be possible depending on the quantity and how the files are supplied. Contact us before ordering if every label needs a different image.
Which material is best for photo labels?
Gloss white vinyl is a popular choice because it provides strong colour and detail. Matt white vinyl gives a softer finish with less reflection.
Can photographs be printed on clear vinyl?
Yes, but the surface beneath the clear label can affect the appearance of the image. White areas are normally transparent unless white ink is specifically arranged.
Are the photo labels waterproof?
The vinyl material is suitable for moisture and everyday handling, but the labels should not be assumed suitable for prolonged immersion, dishwashers or high-temperature use.
Will my photograph need to be cropped?
It may need cropping to fit your selected label shape and proportions. Circular and oval labels generally require more cropping than rectangular labels.
Are the labels supplied individually?
No. Custom vinyl photo labels are supplied on easy-peel sheets.
Will the printed colours exactly match my screen?
Not always. Screens display RGB light, while printing uses CMYK inks. Printed colours may therefore differ slightly from the screen preview.
Can I request a proof before printing?
Yes. A PDF proof is available if requested, and we only print after approval. Printed proofs can also be arranged when colour or image quality is particularly important.
