About our jar & jam labels

Give homemade and professionally produced preserves a polished finish with custom printed jar and jam labels. Add your logo, product name, flavour, ingredients and other important information to create packaging that looks consistent and helps customers recognise your brand.

Our labels can be used on jam, marmalade, chutney, honey, sauces, pickles, spreads and other jarred products. Choose paper labels supplied on rolls or durable vinyl labels supplied on easy-peel sheets, with a choice of shapes and sizes for jar fronts, backs and lids.

Paper or vinyl labels for jars

Paper labels are a cost-effective choice for everyday product packaging and are supplied on rolls for convenient hand application. Choose from matt white paper, biodegradable white paper or paper protected with a gloss or matt laminate.

Vinyl labels are supplied on easy-peel sheets and offer greater resistance to water, moisture and regular handling. Gloss white, matt white and clear vinyl options are available, allowing you to select a finish that complements both your artwork and the contents of the jar.

The most suitable material will depend on how the jars are filled, stored, transported and used. Labels should be applied to clean, dry glass at room temperature and positioned away from embossed lettering, deep curves and uneven surfaces wherever possible.

Labels for jar fronts, lids and packaging seals

Create matching labels for different areas of your packaging. A larger front label can display your branding and product name, while a second label can provide ingredients, allergen information, storage instructions or business details.

Circular and square labels work well on jar lids, while narrow rectangular labels can be used across the lid and side of the jar as a packaging seal. Available options include:

  • Rectangular labels for jar fronts and information panels
  • Circular and square labels for lids and branding
  • Oval labels for traditional preserve packaging
  • Custom sizes shaped around your artwork
  • Matching front, back and lid label designs

Designing your custom jar labels

Upload your completed artwork or create your design using our online label builder. For a clear printed result, supply editable vector artwork or a high-resolution image of at least 300dpi.

If a background colour or image reaches the edge of the label, include 2–3mm bleed and keep important text and logos at least 1–2mm inside the cutting line. This helps prevent unwanted white edges and keeps essential information safely within the finished label.

A PDF proof can be provided before printing if requested. We will wait for your approval before producing the order, allowing you to check the size, layout, spelling and positioning of your design.

Information to include on food labels

If you sell prepacked jam, preserves or other food products, your labels may need to display specific information. Depending on the product and how it is sold, this can include:

  • The name of the food
  • An ingredients list with allergens emphasised
  • The net weight or volume
  • A best-before or use-by date where required
  • Storage instructions
  • A batch or lot number where applicable
  • The name and physical address of the responsible food business

Food-labelling requirements vary according to the product and how it is packaged and sold. You are responsible for checking that your finished artwork contains the correct information and complies with the regulations applying to your business. Your local Trading Standards service can provide advice when required.

Jar & Jam label FAQs

What types of jars can these labels be used on?
The labels can be used on smooth glass and plastic jars for jam, marmalade, chutney, honey, sauces, pickles and other products. Apply them to a clean, dry surface for the best adhesion.
Can I order labels for both the jar and the lid?
Yes. You can order front, back and lid labels in matching designs. Circular and square labels are particularly suitable for jar lids.
Which material is best for jam jar labels?
Paper is an attractive and cost-effective option for dry, general-purpose packaging. Vinyl or laminated paper is a better choice when the jars may encounter moisture, refrigeration or frequent handling.
Are jar labels waterproof?
Our vinyl labels are waterproof and more suitable for damp or chilled conditions. Standard paper labels are not waterproof, although gloss or matt lamination provides additional protection.
Can you print an ingredients list and allergen information?
Yes. Your design can include ingredients, allergens, storage instructions, weight, dates and business information. You are responsible for supplying accurate wording and checking that it complies with the relevant food-labelling rules.
Can I create a seal that goes over the lid?
Yes. A narrow rectangular custom label can run across the lid and down the side of the jar. Measure the lid and jar carefully so the label fits the intended area.
What is the minimum order?
You can order from 50 custom jar and jam labels, making them suitable for small batches, seasonal flavours, gifts and new product launches.
Can I upload my own jar label design?
Yes. You can upload completed artwork or create a design using our online label builder. For the best result, use vector artwork or a high-resolution image of at least 300dpi.
Will I receive a proof before printing?
Yes, if requested. We can send a PDF proof so you can check the size, layout, spelling and positioning. We will wait for your approval before printing.
How quickly will my labels be produced?
Most orders are printed within 1–2 working days, custom labels can take a day or so longer. Tracked delivery and urgent production options are available, subject to the order details and approval of your artwork.
