Waterproof vinyl labels can be useful when an ordinary paper label would be exposed to splashes, damp handling or outdoor weather. Choose the label for the actual surface and conditions: the material, print and adhesive all need to suit the job.

1. Bottles handled with wet hands
Handwash, toiletries and other bottles may be handled while wet or stand beside a sink. A moisture-resistant label can help keep the product name and instructions readable. Leave enough room for essential information rather than shrinking everything to fit a small decorative sticker.
Test a sample on the filled bottle. Its curve, surface finish and any product that reaches the label can affect the result.
2. Jars and containers exposed to condensation
A chilled jar or bottle can pick up condensation as it moves between storage and a display. Choose a label intended for that exposure and confirm the conditions under which it should be applied. A cold or damp surface may need a different approach from a clean, dry jar at room temperature.
For food packaging, use the correct product and date information. The choice of label material does not replace your food-labelling responsibilities.
3. Service and contact labels on equipment
A clear company name, telephone number and service date can make it easier for a customer to find the right contact later. This is useful on suitable equipment housings and service panels where damp handling or occasional splashes are expected.

A standard vinyl label identifies an item; it is not automatically a tamper-evident or security label. Ask for the specific construction required rather than assuming a tough material provides that function.
5. Outdoor collection and storage points
Labels can identify bins, storage boxes or collection points. Choose wording and symbols that explain the task directly: what belongs here, who the container belongs to or which location it should return to.
Outdoor performance depends on exposure, the surface and the complete label specification. Ask about the intended conditions, especially on textured plastics, curved surfaces or containers cleaned regularly.
6. Branded products and reusable containers
A label can carry a maker’s name or help identify a reusable bottle, box or case. Match its size to a smooth available area and check that the edge does not sit across a seam or sharp curve.
Confirm compatibility with the item’s cleaning method. Do not assume that a waterproof label is suitable for every dishwasher, solvent or high-temperature process.
